After almost 30 years in operation the Gold Coast's iconic Broadbeach monorail ran its last circuit in January of this year. The removal of the monorail at The Star Gold Coast (Formerly named Jupiters Casino) will allow The Star Entertainment Group to proceed with further works as part of its planned future developments on the site.
A 450t crane was utilised to lift the large steel sections of the Broadbeach Monorail for the next phase of the monorail demolition process. In addition to the 450t mobile crane, a 100t crane was used to position welders over Tallebudgera creek to cut sections of the monorail to craneable sizes for removal on semi-trailers.
The operation was successful and completed on-program, with one phase of demolition left to complete.
