Probuild has been appointed to one of Brisbane’s most significant transformative projects, the landmark Coorparoo Square.
The major mixed-use development is poised to transform the heart of Coorparoo, one of Brisbane’s most historically significant blue-chip suburbs, and continues Probuild’s move into Brisbane.
Comprising of three apartment buildings, a retail precinct and a 10-theatre cinema complex, Coorparoo Square is being developed by two of the nation’s pre-eminent developers, Australand and Honeycombes Property Group.
The multi-faceted redevelopment project will be delivered in two stages with an expected construction cost of $130m and is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
Probuild is preparing the 1.2 hectare site on Old Cleveland Road for demolition which is set to take place in coming weeks. The iconic Myer building has stood on the parcel for decades and has been vacant for years.
Probuild Queensland Managing Director Peter Ward said the company was thrilled to have secured such a significant project in Brisbane as it expands its Queensland portfolio.
“Coorparoo Square gives us the opportunity to expand further into Queensland, a region where there is currently so much activity and focus,” he said.
Australand Queensland Residential General Manager Cameron Leggatt said the appointment of Probuild provides certainty for both buyers and the local community.
“Probuild is one of the country’s leading construction companies and is regarded as an industry-leader.
Coorparoo Square is a hugely significant project for Brisbane, and the appointment of Probuild ensures the very best outcome for both buyers and the local community.”
Honeycombes Property Group Managing Director Peter Honeycombe said the appointment of Probuild was an exciting step forward for the project.
“To have achieved such a critical milestone for the project before it has even gone to market is an incredible achievement.” he said.
“Early purchasers will be able to see the development take shape before their eyes”.
Coorparoo Square is a transport-oriented development and will act as a significant transport hub for passengers using existing bus routes to and from Coorparoo.
To be developed over two stages, the project will include the delivery of key public transport infrastructure, aligning with future plans for the underground Eastern Busway as well as providing pedestrian connection to the current bus service upgrades in the interim.
The residential offering will include a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments as well as a limited number of luxury penthouses.
