We are proud to announce Emma Favretto, Design Manager in New South Wales, took out the Stockland Innovation in Design Award at the NAWIC NSW Awards for Excellence last Thursday evening.
As part of her role as Design Manager at Promenade Parramatta Stage 1, Emma was responsible for the development of the flood mitigation and management strategy, which included the design and delivery of flood flaps to more than 75% of the building footprint. Emma worked from first principles, with very little precedent available, to develop a truly innovative design for the flood flaps. Her design presents a passive, resource efficient and repeatable solution that can be applied to a broader industry, addressing a potentially life-threatening environmental issue which is increasing in frequency and severity globally.
“One of the greatest challenges for today's property industry is developing innovative solutions that address climate change," said Emma.
“For Sydney, and the outer city of Parramatta in particular, part of this is the need to deliver safe, sustainable and resilient densification and growth along rivers and tributaries in flood prone areas.”
Congratulations Emma on this well-deserved industry accolade.
Further to the excitement of Emma’s win, Probuild was also honoured to have participated in the awards program this year, sponsoring the Tradesperson Scholarship which was awarded to Bonnie Marcus.
